Blog Changes and Whatnot

by Holly Dodson

Okay guys, here’s the deal…  I’m migrating to a new blog!  (Isn’t it shiny and pretty?)  I am hoping to make this as seamless and easy a transition as possible for you all.

Thanks to the lovely Sarah Enni, I figured out how to transfer my Google Friends gadget over here on this newfangled WordPress site.  :)

My hope is that everything will be super smooth and hassle free for all of you.  I’m crossing my fingers that the feed will still show up in all of your Google Readers/Dashboards/Whatever like normal.  If you discover an issue though, please let me know!

Also, I’ve decided I’m not going to try and move every blog post I ever made over here.  It was a hard decision, but my blog and I have grown a lot over the last (almost) two years, and I’m ready for a clean slate.

Now, I am bringing a few posts over — ones from this year that I think are relevant and helpful for other writers out there.  I’m going to try and leave the other blog up so you can access old posts if you want, but we’ll see how it goes.

So, if you have a bookmark or whatever for my site, if you would update it to www.hddodson.com (if you have the old blogger address), I would really appreciate it.  I may also continue fiddling with the look and feel of the site, so don’t be surprised if things change a little.

Thank you all for baring with me through this.  I think this new host and design is going to make for a much more pleasant blogging experience for all of us!

  1. Love the new site!! Sadly, this post didn’t show up in my Google Reader, but the “hey, are new posts showing up in Google Reader?” one did. I had a similar problem when I switched from Blogger to WordPress. Sometimes there’s a delay (of several hours) and sometimes they don’t show up at all. What I do is go to Blogger and create a new, blank post. Just hit “Create post” then “publish.” No content. I don’t know why it works, but it causes Google Reader to recognize the new post over on the WordPress layout. Weird but effective. I have to do it every time, even though I’ve had a website for over 6 months.

    • Meredith, did you have to do anything special to change your RSS feed or anything? Or did it just work by posting a blank post?

      • Oh gosh, I’m trying to remember. I want to say the that Blogger to WordPress Redirection plug-in I downloaded changed everything that needed to be changed, so all I had to do was to make the blank post.

  2. SO SO PRETTY. I’ll keep my eyes on the Google feed and let you know…

Yay for your new site! I’m so excited for you. :D

  3. I’ll updated my feed with this blog. I don’t think it updated on my Google Reader for some reason. Looks lovely over here! :)
